In the Northern Hemisphere in 2016, the Autumnal Equinox falls on 22nd September. Simultaneously the Southern Hemisphere will go through the Vernal Equinox. This time marks the end of one stage of life and the beginning of another. It could not be any more important for me this year than any other year, as life in the UK comes to a close and preparations for returning to Australia begin.
In particular, while the sunlight hours will be almost equal across the world, there will be a tilt or change towards dark or light, depending on where you are… I’ll be leaving a place where days become darker approaching the Winter Solstice, and moving to a place where days are becoming lighter approaching the Summer Solstice.
What a beautiful metaphor for this particular time in my journey. Even more beautiful is the idea that for a moment, the energy and the world is equal and balanced. There is something to be meditated upon there.
This seasonal change can inspire us, restore us through the changes taking place in world around us as colours and shapes evolve, letting go of the past and making space for the new. May we too find within us the space for renewal, possibility and growth. The beauty in balance is something for us to reflect upon, to seek within us and around us.
